Oracle JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne Customers Should Plan Your Upgrade Strategy Now

JD Edwards Users: Don’t Wait for Oracle Fusion Applications; Plan Your Upgrade Strategy Now – this is the headline for a Gartner research report from January 2011.

Among their recommendations:

  • Companies using versions of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne prior to 8.11 should start to prepare for the end of standard support in December 2013 and before, to avoid a shortage of skilled resources and issues with nonsupported platform components if done at the last moment.
  • Most midmarket companies using JD Edwards should continue investing in Applications Unlimited, rather than migrate to Oracle Fusion Applications for the next few years. They should analyze Fusion as a potential source for added functionality.
  • Customers using the IBM Blue Stack should decide on further purchases and build contacts to IBM’s support organization.
  • Companies that plan to modify or customize their JD Edwards solution should use Oracle’s Extensibility Guide.
