A powerful, convenient and very useful feature of JD Edwards World version A9.1 is the ability to import/export data. In order to use the Import/Export functionality, you must have access to a shared directory in the Integrated File Structure (IFS) on your AS/400, iSeries, or System i5 Server. You can map this drive on your Windows PC to allow Windows programs to access this data. Make sure you setup your Import/Export preferences in the User Display Preferences option on menu G944 to designate your IFS path.
JD Edwards World Software provides CSV files that you can use as spreadsheet templates when importing data into your system. The templates contain column headings and database field names for each column of data in the spreadsheet that you import. The database field name allows the import process to map data from the spreadsheet columns to the corresponding database field in the batch input file or interactive subfile.
UDC 00/IE will tell you which programs are already setup for Interactive Export functionality, and UDC 00/II lists programs already setup for Interactive Import functionality. The export feature is only available for subfile programs, while the import feature is available for both subfile programs and programs that only display one record at a time.
